We are currently looking for excellent Ph.D. students with strong interests in smart grid and renewable energy. Candidates should possess a first-class (honours) bachelor’s degree or equivalent (a GPA or average mark of at least 85% or the top 10% of graduates) in a relevant discipline and results of IELTS not less than 6.5 in overall score and no score below 6.0 in each area (or equivalent scores in other English examinations). All successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend and a conference and research-related travel allowance.

SaskPower is the main electric utility in Saskatchewan, Canada, owned by the Province of Saskatchewan. Following its vision of becoming a world-leading utility through innovation, performance, and service, fueled by the growing Saskatchewan economy, SaskPower has a very ambitious program for development and system renewal and plans to expand the share of renewable energy in total generation in the Saskatchewan province to 50% by 2030. SaskPower and the Canadian government have jointly funded a large-scale research program, led by Prof Chung, and aims to address critical technical issues associated with smart grid technologies and their applications to real power systems.  The successful candidates will join this world-class research program and have a chance to enjoy exciting research opportunities and practical applications in advanced power and energy systems technologies.
